After a fantastic European tour last summer Steve, Kenny, Marco, Pete and I will bring the Surfing With The Hydra Tour to the US. We can’t wait to play you the new material from our forthcoming SatchVai album along with your favorite songs from our shared catalog. And that’s not all, we’re bringing along the incomparable Animals As Leaders. You do not want to miss this show with this lineup!” Steve Vai also shares his excitement, as the other guitar idol emphasizes how amazing it is to experience an extensive tour of sharing music with numerous audiences. Vai says, “Being in the same band with Joe, playing songs we actually wrote together on stage, in real time felt like watching a childhood fantasy step out of my teenage brain and stroll onto the stage. And somehow, it was even more rewarding, satisfying, and downright fulfilling than I ever thought possible.” Their upcoming Surfing With The Hydra Tour in spring 2026 will be made complete by bandmates guitarist Pete Thorn, drummer Kenny Aronoff, and bassist Marco Mendoza. With their collective mastery of each instrument, there’s no doubt that every show is bound for greatness.
Speaking of greatness, that is exactly what Joe Satriani and Steve Vai have achieved in their respective careers as renowned guitarists and what they were pursuing when they formed the Satchvai Band. As well-respected artists and experienced musicians, they have become rock icons throughout the years, and their new band has made a lot of their fans across the world very happy. Aside from their tour, their supporters also look forward to their forthcoming single entitled Dancing, and this new material will be in sync with the start of their tour. Previously, they have released two tracks: the high-octane rocker I Wanna Play My Guitar with vocals by Glenn Hughes and the cinematic instrumental track The Sea of Emotion, Pt. 1. Both tracks represent the holistic collaboration of the two artists with their fellow bandmates as well as their accolades. Satriani and Vai both have 15 Grammy Award nominations, with Vai being a three-time Grammy Award winner. He is recognized for having "the richest and best hard rock guitar-virtuoso album of the '80s" with 15 million records sold. Satriani, on the other hand, is the bestselling instrumental rock guitarist of all time, and his touring days have been marked by famous tours with pop stars like Mick Jagger, for whom he played the guitar when Jagger went on his first solo tour.
As an instrumental progressive metal band, Animals As Leaders is the most perfect band to accompany SatchVai Band on this tour. They have built a solid fanbase in the djent scene, and they have also released four studio albums since 2011: Weightless, The Joy of Motion, The Madness of Many, and Parrhesia.
