It’s finally happening. The renowned stand-up comedian, actor, and podcaster BOBBY LEE is kicking off his first-ever headline tour — THE FINALLY TOUR. Live on stage, you’re in for a laugh-out night of his best stand-up material yet. Known for his self-deprecating humor, physical antics, unfiltered stories, and shocking punchlines, it’s definitely a career milestone that you wouldn’t want to miss. The “Bad Friends” co-host hopes to see all of you at his North American shows this spring, marking a new era in his chaotic comedy madness.
Robert Young Lee Jr. was born in 1971 and grew up in Poway, California. Before his rise in comedy, he actually worked at cafes and restaurants. In 1994, the cafe he worked at suddenly shut down, and the man recalls hopping next door to get a job, and it so happened to be The Comedy Store in San Diego. In one of the club’s amateur nights, he tried doing a stand-up set, and soon discovered his fire for stirring laughs on stage. Within a year doing regular sets, he soon started receiving offers to open for comedy icons like Pauly Shore and Carlos Mencia.
In 2001, Bobby Lee joined the cast of MADtv, being the show's first and only Asian member. Eight seasons till 2009, he was definitely a TV icon as viewers around the globe tuned in. In 2015, he joined the TigerBelly podcast with his former partner Khalyla Kuhn (who started the show while she was recovering from heart surgery). Talking about their lives, pop culture, and issues surrounding Asian-American communities in the entertainment industry, adolescence, politics, racism, and more, they’ve taken a deep dive through serious business and light-hearted comedy antics.
Now, he’s looking forward to marking this new milestone in his career — a full-on headlining stand-up comedy trek across North America. This follows the taping of his first special coming out via Hulu, filmed at the Balboa Theater in his hometown, San Diego.
